Job Description

Cyber Security Engineer
Salary: Up to £54,000 per annum + benefits
Location: Swansea area, hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office

We are looking for a hands on Cyber Security Engineer to take technical ownership of cyber security across a predominantly Microsoft environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built strong commercial cyber security experience and is ready to take the next step into a role with greater ownership and influence.
You will work closely with an established infrastructure team and external security partners, helping to assess the existing environment, identify potential security risks and continually strengthen the organisation's security posture.

What you will do:
  • Take technical ownership of cyber security across a Microsoft focused environment
  • Assess the existing estate, identify security gaps and help ensure systems and applications are appropriately hardened
  • Work with Microsoft security technologies including Defender/XDR, EDR and Sentinel
  • Support Identity & Access Management across Entra ID, including PIM, MFA and SSO
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities and emerging threats
  • Review existing security tools and controls, recommending improvements where required
  • Work closely with infrastructure engineers, external SOC providers and security partners on incident response and cyber resilience

What we are looking for:
  • Around 2-3+ years of commercial cyber security experience
  • Hands on experience within Microsoft security environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or other SIEM/SOC technologies
  • Knowledge of XDR/EDR, vulnerability management and incident response
  • Good understanding of Identity & Access Management, ideally including Entra ID, PIM, MFA or SSO
  • Broader knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud security
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with technical teams, suppliers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Microsoft security certifications, CISSP or a relevant cyber security qualification would be advantageous, but further development and certification can be supported

Key Benefits:
  • 35 hour working week
  • 12% employer pension contribution
  • Private healthcare
  • Investment in professional development and further cyber security certifications
  • Opportunity to become a key technical security specialist within the organisation
  • Support from an established infrastructure team and external security partners

Why apply?

This is a great opportunity if you have already developed strong hands-on cyber security experience but want more responsibility, technical variety and influence.

You will have the opportunity to look across the wider security environment, identify where improvements can be made and have a genuine say in how the organisation develops its cyber security capability.
If you have experience across Microsoft security, Azure, Sentinel, SOC/SIEM or Identity & Access Management and are looking for the next step in your career, we would like to hear from you.
